Liminal States: Threshold Framework for Teaching and Learning
Abstract:
This interactive presentation introduces the threshold concept framework in teaching and learning, bridging educational theory with classroom applications. Threshold concepts are critical, core ideas within a discipline that, once understood, fundamentally change the learner’s perspective and authentic participation in the learning community. The presentation will engage educators in reflecting on how educational theory can be integrated into daily teaching practices by drawing on both tacit and implicit knowledge. By connecting theory with practice, educators can foster more meaningful learning and support students in navigating challenging conceptual terrains. The presentation will conclude by offering actionable insights on how educational theory can inform classroom practices to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
